story

Born in 1970 in Nainital, a small town in India at the foot of the Himalayas, Chitra lived there first years of her life and then moved with her parents to New Delhi. Having blossomed into a young woman, Chitra met a young man at the University , where both were studying engineering. After spending four years finishing their studies and following a long-distance relationship, the lovebirds in their twenties, were finally able to get married and it was even the first love marriage of their family.

It was then at the age of 24 that Chitra left India to live with her husband in Singapore and became a teacher in a technical college . During her initial professional years she gave birth to her two children. A few years later, the wind took them to the United States for her husband's work. The family intended to return to Singapore once the two-year stay was over. But against all odds, a job offer came to her husband, in La Chaux-de-Fond, Neuchâtel. It was then without hesitation that they set sail for Europe in 2001.

Despite, the fact that her husband was working, Chitra could not afford to be employed in her field because of the language she did not speak and children still too young. But Mom's work was not enough, she wanted to connect with the world around her. Then, little by little, she started giving Indian cooking classes, Yoga classes, selling shawls at home. In 2012, she finally opened Ananda Café-Boutique, bringing together all the ideas she had cultivated during her ten years in Switzerland, including vegetarian Indian cuisine, handicrafts from her country, yoga classes and many more of inspiration and trips to India with its clientele. Proud of herself she can today welcome you to her little friendly nest.
